The last few weeks have been a whirlwind as we are preparing for our next action at Here 4 The Kids (here). All of our work is based in actively dismantling white supremacy and the systems of oppression that are threatening the existence of our kids. More on that in another post.
In the meantime, please don’t miss this upcoming opportunity to learn and practice your anti-racism skills in the “Art of Interrupting Racism” workshop next Tuesday, September 19th (here). The brilliant mind behind this workshop is my mentor and coach, Amena Chaudhry (find her on LinkedIn, here).
A few days ago, Amena wrote a post that started with this line, “Do you dread being with family during the holidays because you'll have to put up with racism at the dinner table?”
And once I read the post, even though I have already registered to attend the workshop, I realized that as a white woman, it’s my responsibility to get as many white people to register, too. It’s not enough that I’ll be there. Because unless a whole lot more white people like me do the work of learning to interrupt racism, it’s not going to get better.
Racism and white supremacy harms everybody, not just people who get treated like second-class citizens because they don’t happen to live in a white body.
Please join me in Amena’s workshop next Tuesday. I’m not getting anything out of it, except the chance to take one more tiny step to make the world a more equitable place for all human beings.
